You want to eat Australian? Do not stay in Sydney, the Australian cuisine restaurants to charge high rates. On the other hand, and after several trips to Australia (Sydney but Tasmania, Melbourne and coast of the state of Victoria) I'm not sure that there is a genuine Australian cuisine.

There is a tradition of the Australian barbecue, with local products (meat and vegetables) and preferably Australian food products as cheaper (no import fees). As for talk about food ... it is a mixed cuisine with many influences due to the relatively recent colonization of this vast country. Yet, to speak only of Sydney, one can enjoy in the restaurants of Sydney, in one of those (expensive) on Circular Quay opposite the Harbour Bridge and one hundred meters from the Opera (very nice evening with the lights). But there is kitchen type "fish and fries" (fish and chips) or more elaborate dishes but modern kitchen. I will talk about these two restaurants soon

What to prefer when you spend a few days in Sydney, and if your budget is more modest, it is the small Asian restaurants that abound in Chinatown, Chinatown. Since my first visit to Sydney in 2008 I discover every time again and if I fall on Korean barbecue restaurants or toddlers Taiwanese restaurants, I wanted to draw your attention today on what seems to be the best dim sum restaurant in Sydney, the Zilver.

It is a little difficult to locate in the Haymarket area (Chinatown): you must enter the mall Haymarket on Pitt Street, then up to the first floor. Note that many Sydney restaurants are located upstairs and that their input is not necessarily visible from the street. If you have a car, park in the underground car park at the right side (avoid large cars such 4 × 4 in the parking lot of narrow places) and show your ticket to the cashier when paying at the restaurant, you will get a discount parking fees.

The room is huge, very many tables, and it's always noisy. You will come across few tourists here, and the vast majority of customers Asia. I had lunch the first time with Lydia Su, the model maker for your online magazine Repérages Travel (Lydia lives in Sydney) she wanted to let me taste each specialty that particularly appreciate and I literally fell for it fried dim sum stuffed with shrimp and avocado (photo above) and on the thin pancakes stuffed with mango cream (photo below). A to fall backwards! Merely find my pictures today makes me salivate ...

I returned a few days later the family for fun but also to take some pictures to your attention: I love Asian food, I lived two years on the island of Reunion where people eat "plugs" that are in reality those little tidbits steam (dim sum in Chinese), and I adore all that is steamed (it condones, right?). In Zilver yet you eat dim sum as well (tasty and fragrant whatever stuffing) as hot pot (a kind of Chinese fondue broth, perfect family) or the duck. The specialties are numerous and quality.

The concept is simple (and you can find everywhere in China and in rare Chinese restaurants in Paris): waitresses circulate between tables by pushing heavy carts piled on which small steam baskets or other specialty plates . They do not speak much English at all Zilver, and are quick to put on your table that you have designated the finger (the appointment quickly trim before she dodges if what you see is not for you if this will be charged even if you do not eat).
The service is very efficient, not necessarily a smile, but do not come here for the smile: people come to feed, and we leave full, not necessarily ruined (depending on your appetite but the rates are reasonable for Sydney) and with the desire to return to try more next time.
Hours: daily, 10 am to 15:30 and from 17:30 to 23h, from 09h on Saturday and Sunday. No booking except for groups.
Tip: Avoid peak hours, for example, arrive at 11:30 instead of noon or around 18:30 for dinner. Australians eat dinner early in general, to prolong the evening then in bars or pubs. So do not arrive after 22h, we serve you (minus) very quickly.
And you, you would enjoy this type of restaurant where the food outweighs the atmosphere and service
